Steps

Tips for step 1)  Get in the switch stance sailing position, unhooked, and look for some swell or chop.
Tips for step 2)  Sheet out and shift your weight to heel side as you approach the wave.
Tips for step 3)  Extend the mast out against the toe side rail and Lean your rear back over the water as the board pops off the wave.
Tips for step 4)  Push hard with your back foot and bring the board back underneath you body.
Tips for step 5)  Bend your knees and draw your body to the sail as you go down the wave.
Tips for step 6)  Flip the sail.
Tips for step 7)  Sheet the sail in and start your new tack.

Tips

  • Practice switch stance sailing to gain confidence before attempting this move.
  • Try to use the wave like a snow bank in snow. Your body should feel like the carving on a snowboard.

Ideas

  • Duck the sail instead of rotation.
  • Jump off the back of the wave for a jump jibe.
  • Jump off the back of the wave for a Vlcan.
  • Perform the air tack by jumping into the wind like a back loop and rotating the sail mid air.
