Steps

Tips for step 1)  Unhook and pick some chop upwind with a rather steep but smooth face. Make sure your front foot is a little loose in the strap.
Tips for step 2)  Jump slightly into the wind.
Tips for step 3)  Take the front foot out and extend it behind you and down while slightly pulling up on the booms. Let the board ride to the apex of the jump.
Tips for step 4)  As the board descends, bring the foot back down on the deck of the board.
Tips for step 5)  Land upright and slightly on the tail of the board.

Tips

  • Try to land with placing the foot back on the deck instead of reinserting it back in the foot strap.
  • Extend the leg fully and point the toe for maximum style.
  • Pay attention to what you do with the booms.
  • Experiment with the angle of your extension. Sometimes kick straight back and other times to the side.

Ideas

  • Vary the direction of the board. Try bearing off wind before pulling the foot.
  • Try combinations like the one hand followed by the one leg.
