Sailing Inside Booms
Another light wind play-time maneuver is sailing while inside the booms. This is really just silliness that appeals to kids -- of course -- and a small percentage of adults without dignity and self respect... adults just trying to find another way to stay on the water and avoid responsible adult concerns such as work, chores, and taxes.

Steps
1)
OK! You are juyst sailing along. In fact you are slogging and ready to go to shore and call it a day.
2)
You decide to sail in the booms. So you grab the mast right below the boom head, then you dip your head under the boom.
3)
Next you slide your rear hand under the sail. This is kind of awkward and you have to squeeze it between the sail and the boom while maintaining your balance and controlling the sail with your mast hand and head.
4)
Hook the back hand over the boom. Almost there....
5)
Now you slide the front arm up threw the boom (Houdine style) while controlling the sail with your back hand and head.
6)
Eventually the elbow will go above the boom so you are completely in the sail. Just reverse the process to get out! Helpful Skills
Too much time... Too much sun... Love to experiment and play on the water...
Tips
Falling while inside the booms is really frightening because you are very vulnerable and all locked up inside the sail with arms that are helpless. Ouch!!!! You can actually get hurt in this foolishness.
Ideas
Clew first, switch stance, one handed, and all variations are a possibility.
