Jump Jibe

A classic maneuver invented sometime during the Jurassic period. This move mysteriously emerged after the ice age and seems to be a favorite among primitive primates. Seriously, the Jump-Jibe emerged around 1984 and is relatively easy to learn. I guess we can all learn something from the past and this move is characterized by mid air board control and the diving sensation as the board dives nose first into the water.

Tips for step 2)  Jump off the chop, sheet out and push down on the front foot to alley the board out of the water.
Tips for step 3)  Lift with the front leg toward the chest while slightly kicking windward with the back foot.
Tips for step 4)  Lift with the front leg toward the chest while slightly kicking windward with the back foot.
Tips for step 5)  ;As the board drops back to the water nose first make sure both feet are on the deck of the board.
Tips for step 6)  Keep your knees bent as you hit the water and sail up out of the water. This move is a bit wet.
Tips for step 7)  Sheet-in, adjust your body weight over the center of the board. Use the power of the sail to stabilize your position.

Your 1st Jump Jibe will look something like this. This is not pretty but you can work on getting the nose to dive in the water and the feet on the deck. Be careful because sometime you can ram your shins into the rail of the board orflip the board and hit the fin (a little more dangerous).
