The Underground Text of Windsurfing in Western Australia

Cervantes/Green Head

You must see the pinnacles if you decide to windsurf either of these sites, preferably around sunset, unless you have no geographical appreciation whatsoever, are a numb bloke, and could care less about anything spectacular.
These sites are pretty close to each other and are accessable from either Geraldton or Perth. About 2.5 hours from each. Unfortunately, there is no coastal road (maybe 4wd) from Lancelin to Cerventes.

1. Green Head

Green Head is a small cray fishing village which has great wildflowers, a great sandy beach, and a great windsurfing wave. So tourism is big here. Bring your snorkel, a beach towel and your gear. Located about 3.5 hours from Perth or 3 hours from Geraldton (Take The scenic coastline). The reef at Green Head is a distance from the shore (about 1km) and and some of the local sailors say Green Head is not only windier than Geraldton but also a better wave. Check out this bay. Accommodation is available at the local caravan park and bed and breakfast. The launch is through a flat section where the wind is quite gusty.

2. Cervantes

Great beginner and intermediate site with the parking lot within 10 meters of the beach. Enjoy the sun on a sandy beach.
